Indian Academy of Echocardiography (IAE) is the largest professional
body of Cardiologists
interested in Echocardiography in India. IAE had its origin in 1994 during the Annual
Conference of Cardiological Society of India at Chennai when 10 Cardiologists came together
and decided to form IAE. Dr Savitri Shrivastava was proposed as the first President and Dr
SK Parashar, the first Secretary. The first National conference of IAE was held in New Delhi
in February 1995. The meeting was attended by 93 delegates.
IAE holds Annual Conference every year where recent developments in
Echocardiography are
discussed. In addition, IAE conducts training programmes in various aspects of
Echocardiography.
Dear IAE members,
A new team of office bearers has been elected for 2021-22. Let me
wholeheartedly thank
all of you for the confidence you have placed on us.
The IAE -Kerala Chapter (IAE-KC) 2021 annual conference was conducted on

organizational
activities
With warm regards
The IAE aims at increasing the knowledge of echocardiography in all its
forms. In this
age of Interventional Cardiology echocardiography had fallen on the wayside.
The IAE intends to restore the magic and the fine art of echocardiography to
all
practising Cardiologists.
We the office bearer plan to learn from all our members and invited guests
the best
echocardiography has to offer in the diagnosis, management and treatment and follow -up
of patients.
We will not limit ourselves to just 2 DE echocardiography and Doppler but
plan to
improve our knowledge of 3D echo, M Mode, strain rate imaging and transoesophageal
echocardiography.
We hope that this website would enhance our presence as a teaching platform.
I hope all
the hits on our website would be useful and enlightening to our viewers.
Thank you.
Welcome to the official website of IAE –Kerala Chapter.
IAE aims to facilitate knowledge sharing among cardiologists, to take the
art and
science of Echocardiography practice in our state to the next level. We also plan to
engage in regular academic dialogues with our technician friends, which will definitely
improve the outcome of our patients with heart disease. We hope that this website will
be great platform for all of us, who have one thing in common…our passion for
Echocardiography.
We would love to have more of our colleagues to hold hands with us, and
strengthen
IAE-Kerala in this academic journey.
Do join us … Let’s “ECHO” together.
Let me congratulate the office bearers of Indian Academy of
Echocardiography (Kerala Chapter) [IAE(KC)] for their far sightedness in
starting a website for the association.
In today’s technology driven world every professional body needs a website.
The website transforms a local organisation into an international one. The
IAE(KC) site will be accessible from every nook and corner of the world. This
initiative will catapult IAE (KC) to a higher level. It will encourage more to
become members of our association.
On my personal behalf I wish the website all success.
Indian Academy of Echocardiography aims to update the present generation of cardiologists and interested physicians about this bedside technique. We set up the first echo lab in India at the Trivandrum Medical College in 1979 to select patients for cardiac surgery at a time when we did not have a cath lab. This was before the days of coronary angio and angioplasty. I am happy to state that we succeeded in popularising this art nationally and we the members of Kerala IAE want to maintain this spirit. Today with advancements in Doppler techniques and strain imaging we can look into the pathophysiology of every heart disease and explain the physical signs with accuracy which was not possible in the cath era. Let every echocardiographer do the procedure in an ideal manner so that the technique remains well refined and accurate. With this aim our academy will popularise the latest techniques in echo Doppler at the same time fine tune the older techniques.
Youngsters should understand we have a bedside machine which can solve so many problems early in their natural history. Welcome everyone interested in Echo to our fold.
